Police in Port Elizabeth made a speedy arrest on Tuesday morning after a 61-year-old man was shot and wounded in the back.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Gelvandale police responded to a shooting incident in Helenvale when they found the victim with a gunshot to his back.
She says while police were on the scene shots were being fired in Reynecke Street and an arrest was made.
The teenager was allegedly firing shots in the street and the motive is currently unknown.
Police also confiscated a firearm that was stolen during a house robbery in Kabega Park in October 2017.
The suspect is being charged with attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
