A Port Elizabeth man has died a gruesome death when he was set alight by assailants who police believe wanted to steal his car.
The name of the victim has not yet been released but Algoa FM News understands he is from the Bethelsdorp area.
Police spokesperson, captain André Beetge, says the body of the 45 year old man was found in the early hours of this morning on Mission Road near Kwadwesi.
Beetge says they suspect that the attackers also wanted to strip his vehicle - a green Mazda Sting - for spares. The victim was set alight and died at the scene. Beetge has requested anyone who may have witnessed the crime or with any information, to contact the KwaDwesi Police.
