A 24-year-old Port Elizabeth man made a brief appearance in court on Wednesay in connection with the murder of a man from Malabar.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said the suspect is also facing additional charges of rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery and the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
He was arrested by police on Monday who were investigating the theft of a luxury German car.
Upon further investigation detectives were led to a house in Crammer Street in Malabar, where they found that a 66-year-old woman had been attacked.
They also found the body of 37-year-old Bhaven Moodley, who appeared to have been strangled.
The suspect will be back in court on Thursday for a formal bail application.
