Port Elizabeth police have arrested a suspect for being in possession of an illegal firearm.
They also hope to link him to a gang-related shooting in Goldberg Street in Bethelsdorp, on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says while police were en route to the scene they spotted a man jumping into a car which sped off.
After stopping and searching the car police recovered a firearm and arrested one suspect.
Janse Van Rensburg says investigators will try to link the suspect and the firearm to the Goldberg Street shooting.
A 46-year-old man narrowly escaped with his life when two men standing on the corner of the street opened fire on his vehicle.
