Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder after a young man was shot and killed in Burke Street, Bloemandal, at around 4.30pm on Sunday.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg has named the deceased as 21 year-old Christo Minnaar.
She says family members heard a number of gunshots outside and when they went to investigate found Minnaar lying dead in the front yard.
He had been shot in the hand, chest and shoulder.
Van Rensburg says Minnaar was not affiliated to any gang so police are not sure if the murder is gang related or not.
Anyone with information is asked to contact their nearest police station.
Meanwhile there was also a shooting incident in the Port Elizabeth Northern Areas suburb of Helenvale at around a quarter past ten on Tuesday night.
Captain van Rensburg says an attempted murder docket has been opened.
She says two friends were standing in front of a house in Fidget street when another man walked up to them and opened fire.
Miraculously, no-one was injured.
Van Rensburg said the shooter was known to police and detectives hope to make an arrest soon.
