The young man shot in a gang-related incident in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth on Tuesday has died in hospital.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg has identified the victim as 21 year-old Xavier Welcome from the Gelvandale Area.
He was hit twice in the head when rival gang members pulled up alongside each other at the robots between Ring Road and Langenhoven Street at lunch time on Tuesday and started shooting at each other.
Welcome was rushed to Livingstone Hospital in a critical condition and passed away on Wednesday.
Janse Van Rensburg said no arrests have made and that a charge of attempted murder has been changed to one of murder.
