PE man burns to death in sub-station explosion

An unknown man from Port Elizabeth had been burned beyond recognition after setting off an explosion at a substation in Malabar.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says the incident took place in Burness Road.

It is suspected that the man wanted to steal electricity when the incident happened.

The area is currently without power and the Nelson mandela Bay Municipality is working on the problem.
