Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly shooting his girlfriend.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre’ Beetge, said that the suspect was arrested on Sunday on a charge of attempted murder.
He said the man allegedly shot a 32-year-old woman in both legs and hip on Saturday night.
“The victim is believed to be his girlfriend and is suspected to be a domestic violence-related incident,” Beetge said.
“Although the motive for the attack is still being investigated, the 27-year-old suspect is believed to been released from St Albans Prison recently after been suspected of numerous violent crimes that include robberies and car hijackings going back to 2009.”
“Most cases have been withdrawn and some cases are still before the court,” Beetge said.
He said the suspect will appear in court on Wednesday.
