Port Elizabeth police have arrested one suspect and are searching for two others after a woman was allegedly raped in a house in the city's Northern Areas.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the incident took place in the early hours of Friday morning.
She says the 28-year-old woman met a taxi driver whom she knew in Central and who was in the company of two other men.
Naidu says after drinking at a bar they all went to a house in Salsoneville where the alleged rape took place.
She says at some time during the morning, the woman managed to run away and reported the incident to an employee at a bus depot in Stanford Road.
A passing police vehicle was flagged down, and while police were busy with the complainant, the community brought a 31-year old man to them and alleged that he was one of the suspects.
The man is being detained and will appear in court soon.
The search for the other two suspects is continuing.
