A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a tavern in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu says four men armed with guns allegedly robbed patrons of cellphones, wallets and jewellery on Saturday.
An undisclosed amount of cash and liquor were also stolen from the tavern.
Gwavu says that same night, Swartkops police were holding a roadblock at Wells Estate, when a Mazda 323 did not stop, and a chase ensued.
The car, driven by a 25-year-old man, was pulled over in Motherwell, and several firearms, bottles of liquor and cellphones were found inside the vehicle.
The driver was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
