A 40-year old Port Elizabeth man has made his first appearance in the Motherwell magistrates court following the brutal rapes of five minor girls.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu says the man was taken into custody on Tuesday after community members brought him to the local police station.
Gwavu says it is alleged that the man had lured the minor girls, aged between five and eight, to his house in Badi Street, while they were playing in a street.
He says after allegedly raping the girls one by one, he let them go.
Gwavu says the case against the man has been postponed to the 6th of November for a formal bail application.
