PE man admits porn addiction led to child porn syndicate

The Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court has heard details of how internet porn addiction led a father of twin daughters into an international child pornography syndicate.

35-year-old Jayde Sheldon from Westering was convicted of being part of the syndicate ring that distributed footage of the rape, torture and murder of babies after pleading guilty to the charges against him.

Sheldon told the court today, that he had been addicted to internet porn for 10 years and became interested in child pornography five years ago.

Sheldon and a 22-year old woman were arrested following an investigation involving the United State's FBI and Belgian police.

Charges against the pair relate to the importing, possession and distribution of films, which contained depictions or descriptions which encouraged child pornography or sexual exploitation of children.

State Prosecutor, Jason Thysse, made a submission to the court that Sheldon be sentenced to five years in prison in terms of Films and Publications Act, plus an additional seven years.

Sheldon is expected back in court on the 9th of March for sentencing.

A trial date still needs to be set for the woman.
