Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of armed robbery after three suspects allegedly threatened a security officer with a firearm and fled with his gas pistol on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says it is alleged that the 58-year-old officer was sitting in his vehicle in Bluewater Bay when an unknown armed man approached him.
She says the man pointed a firearm at him before his accomplices opened the vehicle's passenger door.
Captain Swart says whilst demanding his gun, one of the men pistol-whipped the victim and a shot went off.
Another man grabbed the keys out of his ignition and they fled on foot with his gas pistol and knife.
No arrests have been made.
