A 36-year-old Port Elizabeth man has been killed after going to the assistance of a man who was robbed in Commercial Road.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Alwin Labans, says the robbery victim had left a pawn shop with a bag of jewellery when he was accosted by two men.
They grabbed the bag from him and fled while the victim gave chase.
Labans says a member of the public who witnessed the incident also gave chase in his vehicle.
He says the fleeing robbers fired shots at the vehicle, fatally wounding the driver.
The robbery victim was not unharmed.
Labans says one suspect was arrested but he says the alleged shooter is still at large.
