A six-year-old Port Elizabeth girl has been wounded after being hit by a stray bullet in Helenvale on Monday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the child was playing on the pavement in front of her house in Kobus Road when shots were fired.
She said it was not known who fired the shots, but said that the little girl was hit in the head.
She was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and had also implemented the 72-hour activation plan to hunt down the perpetrators.
