PE gangsters get life for murder

Two Port Elizabeth gang members have been given two life terms plus an additional 63 years behind bars for killing two young men nearly three years ago.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said Bradley Bergens (26) and Given Cornelius (30), members of the Spotbouers gang, were sentenced in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Tuesday.

They were arrested after they opened fire on a group of men sitting in a garage in Dinsmore Street in Schauderville in November 2017, killing 21-year-old Reagan Fourie and 16-year-old Reagan Russel.

Four other people were wounded.

Naidu said they were each sentenced to life for the two murders, 12 years each on four counts of attempted murder and a further 15 years for the possession of firearms and ammunition.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Nthinga, welcomed the sentence.
