A police task team has arrested two suspects following the deaths of two people in gang-related shootings in Port Elizabeth’s Northern Areas.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the arrests were made in connection with the death of 38-year-old Camilla Crafford at the end of November.
She was fatally wounded in Gail Road in Gelvandale after being caught in the cross-fire of rival gangsters.
The other case relates to the murder of 43-year-old Marlin Koopman who was shot dead in broad daylight in Rensburg Street in Arcadia also last month.
The suspects, both aged 22, are due in court soon.
Naidu said since 3 December, a total of 12 suspected gang affiliates were in custody for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms and hijacking.
She also said that the National Intervention Team has once again deployed to the Northern areas of Port Elizabeth for the next three months.
