Nelson Mandela Bay fire fighters have contained a vegetation fire burning in the Noordhoek area on the city’s ‘wild side”.
By late Saturday afternoon, official said that while the fire was still burning, but “the situation was under control”.
Safety and Security head, John Best, said that the Noordhoek ski boat club was safe.
He said six fire tenders with 30 fire-fighters were dispatched to the scene.
“It is a contained bush fire just beyond Noordhoek. The whole morning the wind was blowing in one direction but had changed direction. It’s burning towards the section that was previously burnt,” he said.
Marine Drive remained closed with officials on scene to direct traffic.
