A Port Elizabeth couple from New Brighton have been shot - apparently for not wanting to rent out their house.
Captain Andre Beetge of the Motherwell policing cluster reports that the couple were shot at around 20h30 on Monday night.
He says three men had arrived at the couple's house in Nqolombo Street, New Brighton and enquired about renting the home belonging to 58-year-old Nomfundo Ndaleni.
An argument ensued and one of the men produced a firearm and shot at the couple - injuring both.
Mrs Ndaleni was shot in the face and her 57-year-old boyfriend was wounded in the hip.
The suspects then fled the scene.
The couple was taken to Dora Nginza Hospital for medical treatment.
Captain Beetge said a case of attempted murder was being investigated.
