Port Elizabeth police are searching for three men who robbed a couple in their home on an estate in Collen Glen.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that the 65-year-old complainant and wife had retired to bed but were still awake when the suspected entered “through the unlocked bedroom sliding door” on Tuesday night.
“All were armed with knives and demanded firearms, money and jewellery,” she said.
Naidu said the intruders searched the couple’s bedroom and took items worth an estimated R30 000.
“The suspects ran off into the bushy area surrounding the estate. The couple was not injured and as soon as the suspects left, they alerted the security on the premises.”
A case of house robbery is under investigation.
Naidu said they were also urging residents in complexes to ensure that all their doors and windows were locked when they go to bed.
