Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating an armed robbery after an elderly couple was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in their home in Old Seaview Road in Chelsea.
According to SAPS the couple aged 74 and 60 were in their TV lounge having supper when four unknown men entered into their house.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says two of the men had firearms whilst the others were armed with a knife and crowbar.
She says the suspects gained entry through an unlocked sliding door.
The victims were taken to their bedroom where their hands and feet were bound with cable ties.
Soci says the men ransacked the house and eventually fled with a TV, cash, several household items and bangles, which was taken off the woman's arms.
The couple managed to free themselves by cutting the cable ties with a knife that was on the table.
They were not injured in the robbery.
