A Port Elizabeth couple will appear in court today for the alleged rape of a 14 year old girl who was placed in their foster care.
Police spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the 38 year old man and 37 year old woman from Rowallan Park, were arrested on Thursday following an investigation by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
She says the unit had been contacted by the girl's school last month out of concern that she was being abused at home.
Janse Van Rensburg says police obtained statements and after finalising the investigation arrested the couple last Thursday on charges of rape.
They will appear in court today.
Janse Van Rensburg says the girl and her 9-year-old brother had been placed in the care of family members outside Port Elizabeth.
