Three armed robbery suspects are due to appear in court on Friday following a high-speed chase in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night in which one of their accomplices was shot dead by Police.
Police captain Johann Rheeder told AlgoaFM News that the robbery suspect was killed - shortly after the gang robbed the Spar Tops liquor store in Rink Street, Central, at around 7pm.
The robbers fled in a white Ford vehicle but were cornered by police in a dead end street off Grahamstown Road in North End.
Rheeder says in the ensuing shoot-out, one of the robbers was killed on the scene.
The other three men were arrested on the spot and are being held in custody.
