Two Port Elizabeth police officers were responsible for the seizure of dagga with a street value of more than 2.9 million Rand in just two days.
Constables Andile Mathole and Ayanda Burwana's suspicions were raised on Thursday night when a mini-bus passed them while they were patrolling on the N2 at Swartkops bridge.
They stopped the vehicle and arrested the 24-year-old driver after they found more than a ton of dagga with a street value of over 2.56 million Rand stuffed in large bags inside the vehicle destined for Port Elizabeth.
On Wednesday the same two officers were involved in a high-speed chase which ended in the fleeing suspects crashing into the back of a stationary truck at Colchester.
Upon searching the vehicle the two policemen discovered several bags of dagga with an estimated street value of 350 thousand Rand.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says police management commended the officers for their sterling work.
