Police members from the seven stations making up the Mount Road Cluster carried out 213 arrests in Nelson Mandela Bay at the weekend.
Police captain Stanley Jarvis said this represented an increase of about 90 per cent on arrests made in previous weekend operations.
He said the arrests were for crimes ranging from rape, murder and hijacking to theft and possession of drugs and stolen property.
"Confiscations that we've done include weapons, drugs and other items used in the execution of criminal activity," he said.
Jarvis said the suspects were being held at various police stations in the Metro and would appear in court from today through to Wednesday.
