PE cop in court for false bomb threat

A Port Elizabeth policeman is expected to appear in court Monday in connection with a false bomb threat at a branch of Absa Bank.

The 38-year-old man was off-duty when he entered a branch of the bank in Greenacres Shopping Centre last Friday.

He allegedly indicated to bank personnel that he will activate an explosive device if his demands are not met. 

Police did not reveal what his demands were.

The policeman was arrested inside the bank.

Police said he did not have any explosives in his possession.
