A Port Elizabeth businessman charged with the murder of his wife had been granted bail in the city's magistrate's court.
Forty-four-year-old Nathan Lewis, originally from Washington in the US, was granted bail of R20 000 on Friday.
His bail conditions include house arrest and he has to report to the Mount Road police station twice a week.
The state had opposed Lewis' bail on the grounds that he was a flight risk but his legal counsel Terry Price said he was not a flight risk as there is an extradition agreement between South Africa and the United States.
Lewis was arrested last Wednesday in connection with the murder of his 37-year-old wife, Debbie, who's throat had been slit.
He will be back in court again on the 29th of November.
