Port Elizabeth police are investigating cases of business robbery, after a petrol station and a fast food outlet were robbed in Strandfontein Road in Summerstrand on Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Johan Rheeder says a suspect, armed with a firearm, entered the shop at the petrol station at around 5 o'clock, and instructed staff to open all the cash registers.
He then ordered them to lie down, and took all the cash.
Rheeder says he then went to the fast food outlet next door, and did the same.
He says the robber fled on foot with a substantial amount of cash.
No shots were fired and no-one was injured.
Rheeder said there was a substantial increase in business robberies in the city lately, and he urged especially petrol station owners to increase their security measures at night and to report all suspicious looking persons to the police.
