The case against two Port Elizabeth brothers , who allegedly instructed a 12-year-old boy to light a firecracker which exploded in his face, has been postponed.
The 27-year-old Demane and 25-year-old Sebastian Pillay both briefly appeared in the city's Magistrate Court on Monday morning.
The two brothers, who are the sons of a Port Elizabeth police colonel, were arrested in January.
According to police information one of the suspects offered 12-year-old, Shane Witbooi, a "cigarette" and lit it up for him.
The "cigarette" blew up in Witbooi's face seconds later leaving him with severe facial wounds and burns.
Defence attorney Alwyn Griebenauw asked for the case to be postponed to the 5th of April in order for the regional court prosecutor to consult with the complainant- Witbooi.
The Pillay brothers are facing a charge of assault with the intent of doing grievous bodily harm.
Their bail of R500 each has been extended.
