The Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board has awarded two licenses to operate Bingo halls in Port Elizabeth.
Metrominute reports that the licenses were awarded to Galaxy Bingo Port Elizabeth to operate a hall at Moffett on Main and to Ritz Bingo for a facility at Cleary Park.
In all, six licenses were awarded across the Eastern Cape, with two going to East London, one to Jeffrey’s Bay and one to Mthatha.
Nine licenses still remain to be awarded with the Board planning to issue a request for proposals for them within the next 90 days.
Board CEO Mabutho Zwane said now that the successful applicants had been announced, work on the ground could start immediately.
He said it would boost business and tourism in the Eastern Cape.
