Seven more airports in the country are set to resume operations on the first of July, including Port Elizabeth International Airport.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula made the announcement at an aviation industry briefing on Monday.
He said international passenger flights remain prohibited, with the exception of those he’s personally authorised.
Mbalula said that as more airports are opened, this will naturally increase the number of passengers at airports.
Therefore, measures have been put in place to ensure that passengers are prepared for their experience at the airports to avoid congestion, mainly at security checkpoints.
