A group of concerned parents at Uitenhage has closed 16 schools in the Western Areas of the town to protest the issue of teachers shortages and non payment of teachers.
Kenneth Kohl is a concerned parent at Dower Practicing school and a councillor for Ward 48 in Uitenhage.
He says they'll be marching to the Department of Education's offices on Wednesday to highlight what they perceive as a number of short-comings at State-run schools in the Uitenhage Area.
"We are taxpayers and pay school fees. This is now the attitude we are getting from the Education Department. We are going to have a march on Wednesday to air our grievances. We will show them that we are now serious. They don't even visit our schools on a regular basis" Kohl said.
