Police in Port Elizabeth are looking for unknown suspects who assaulted and robbed a paralysed 87-year-old woman in her house in New Brighton.
Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said the incident happened at her house in Rula Street shortly after 12 pm on Tuesday.
It is alleged that the victim's caregiver went to the shop to buy a few things and when she returned about 40 minutes later she found the woman beaten and bruised.
Beetge said her security gate was closed, but not locked when an unknown amount of suspects gained entry to her house and assaulted her.
The men demanded money before stealing her purse with all her cash in cards inside.
Police have condemned the attack on the lady on the strongest terms and called on anybody with information to come forward.
