The case against a Paradise Beach father and his stepson, accused of more than 700 charges, including rape, incest, sexual grooming, bestiality, and the sexual exploitation of children, was called before the Gqeberha High Court on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old and his 19-year-old stepson also face charges relating to the creation, possession, and dissemination of child pornography.
The state alleges that the men raped and sexually assaulted his teenage daughter over several years.
They allegedly recorded the acts.
Following their arrest, police seized thousands of images and recordings of child pornography and other lewd materials.
When the case resumed in court on Wednesday, only the father was present in court.
It is understood that his stepson suffered a seizure, and had been admitted to hospital.
The case was postponed to 3 November.
