The third suspect in the Jayde Panayiotou murder case made his first appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court on Tuesday morning.
Thirty-year-old Sizwezakhe Vumazonke faces the same charges as Jayde's husband, Christopher Panayiotou which are conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.
Vumazonke, whose face was bruised and an eye slightly swollen, cut a forlorn figure in the dock.
Magistrate Jan Van Der Westhuizen asked Vumazonke what had happened to his face, to which he replied in Afrikaans, "I was assaulted and beaten up by the police."
He also indicated that he would make use of his own private attorney.
Van Der Westhuizen then told Vumazonke that his attorney would the have the "option of requisitioning him for a formal bail application before his next scheduled court appearance."
Vumazonke will remain in custody and will be back in court again on the 19th of June, alongside Jayde's husband Christopher, who appeared in court on Monday in connection with her murder.
Christopher Panayiotou has not yet applied for bail and also remains in custody.
The first suspect to be arrested in the investigation, Thando Siyoli, appeared in court last Thursday.
Siyoli, who is believed to have turned state's witness will be back in court on Thursday the 7th of May.
