The bail hearing for 28-year-old murder accused Christopher Panayiotou has been postponed in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates court.
Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating the abduction and murder of his school teacher wife Jayde, whose body was found near Kwanobuhle, Uitenhage in April.
The popular Riebeeck College teacher had been shot three times, twice in the back and once in the head at close range.
For the first time on Wednesday, Jayde's mother Michelle and sister Toni Inggs attended court proceedings.
Both mother and daughter made no eye contact with the Panayiotou family and appeared visibly emotional when Christopher Panayiotou entered court.
At one point Toni continued to stand after everyone had taken their seats, staring directly at Panayiotou.
State Prosecutor Marius Stander, in his closing arguments, said that the state intended to prove by way of expert evidence that this was not a robbery, but rather a 'hit' and that Jayde had been "executed."
Stander said there is a witness who will testify about the money paid by Panayiotou to the alleged middleman Luthando Siyoni.
He said there had been severl unsuccessful attempts to carry out the murder conspiracy, adding that the state had corroborating evidence to prove Panayiotou's involvement.
Stander added that it was also a misconception that video footage of a conversation between Panayiotou and Siyoni after the murder was the state's only evidence.
Meanwhile, Defence Advocate Terry Price, physically showed Magistrate Abigail Beeton that he was in possession of Panayiotou's Cypriot ID card, South African ID card and driving licence.
He handed the documents to Investigating Officer, Rhynhardt "Kanna" Swanepoel.
He argued that Panayiotou did not flee before his arrest even though he was in possession of the Cypriot identity document.
Price also slammed the states claim that Panayiotou was in financial difficulty and said his assets amounted to R3.1 million.
The matter was postponed to 4 June for Magistrate Abigail Beeton to rule on Panayiotou's bail application.
