Opposition parties in the Mossel Bay Municipal Council are demanding that the municipal chief financial officer be fired.
This after Marius Botha was found guilty of charges of fraud and money laundering in a regional court of the town Williston.
The charges were brought against Botha by the Karoo Hoogland Municipality where he was previously employed.
Botha has been working for the Mossel Bay Municipality since December 2014.
The municipality has given him until Tuesday to declare why his contract should not immediately be terminated.
