Only three women on NMB investment council


Nelson Mandela Bay executive mayor, Benson Fihla, has named just three women on the 13-member panel that will make up the Metro's newly appointed investment council.

They are Nomkitha Mona, the CEO of SA Forestry Company Limited (Safcol), Bongi Siwisa, chairperson of Emfuleni Resorts and Phumela Salela of the National Department of Economic Development.

Announcing the names at city hall on Tuesday, Fihla said the investment council "will provide the city with pro-active advice on the promotion and facilitation of job creation through investment in all sectors of the economy."

Executive Mayor Benson Fihla said that the composition of the investment council is of prime importance.

"Members include champions of industry, investment promotion agencies, goverment and labour to fully execute the mandate of the council. Namely to advise and provide strategic direction to all investment and retention iniatives in the Nelson Mandela Bay region." said Fihla

The members are: Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Board Chairman Odwa Mtati; NAFCOC Regional President Mnyamezeli Dyala; Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber Mandla Madwara; Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism Head of Department Bongani Ngxilishe; Transnet Port Elizabeth Manager Siyabulela Mhlaluka; Cacadu District Municipality Economic Development Director Phumelelo Kate; Eastern Cape Socio Economic Consultative Council CEO Andrew Murray, Cosatu Regional Secretary Andile Bloko; National Parliament member Cedrick Frolick; National Economic Development Pumela Salela; South African Forestry Company Limited CEO Nomkhitha Mona and Emfuleni Resorts (PTY) Ltd which runs Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World board chairman Bongi Siwisa.
