One person was killed and two others were arrested following a shootout at Truckers Inn in Gqeberha between security officers and a group of men in a stolen car.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the drama unfolded at around 23.10 on Wednesday when the patrolling security officers spotted a car parked in a unauthorisied area.
“There were approximately seven occupants in the vehicle and as the guards approached the vehicle to request them to move, an argument erupted between them,” she said.
Janse Van Rensburg says the security officers called for back-up and when it arrived, the suspects opened fire leading to a shootout.
One suspect who was wounded died on the way to hospital, four others fled the scene.
Two suspects, aged 27 and 28, were arrested and are due to appear in court soon.
