Port Elizabeth police are searching for two suspected gangsters who shot and killed a man and wounded three others in Helenvale on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Albert Mitchell, who was in his late fifties.
The shooting came ahead of a prayer service in New Brighton attended by premier Phumulo Masualle.
The Herald reports that Masualle said it was time for communities to claim back the streets.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans.
"The 59 year old man died. Three others were shot, one was in the hip, the back and the other in the right arm. There were 12 shots fired during the incident" he said.
