Omotoso bail ruling expected on 9 June

Judgement in the bail hearing of controversial Nigerian Pastor Tim Omotoso will be delivered on the 9th of June.

The bail hearing of the Jesus Dominion International Church Pastor concluded in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's court on Tuesday.

He has been in custody for a month, following his dramatic arrest in the arrivals hall of Port Elizabeth's airport.

The 58 year old Pastor is facing 22 charges of human trafficking and sexual violence.

The proceedings mainly centred on the legality of his travel documents with defence attorney, Alfonso Hattingh, opposing Immigrant officer, Ivan Klaasen's, testimony that Omotoso was in the country ilegally.

NPA spokesperson, Tshepo Ndwalaza, said they were confident that the state had a strong case.

Hawks spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda, said they strongly believed that Omotoso was a flight risk and had the resources to flee the country. He added that having five passports and hawks official on his side would make it easy for him to leave the country.
