The search is continuing this morning for a rhino which got out of an Eastern Cape farm and was spotted on Tuesday by a motorist walking on a public road.
Police spokesperson, captain Mali Govender, says a motorist travelling between Kenton on Sea and Grahamstown spotted the animal and alerted authorities.
She says all role players, including police, nature conservation and the department of environmental affairs, were alerted and the search for the animal began.
Govender says police and traffic officials were also stationed on the interlinking road and the N-2 because of the heavy rain and mist in the area.
At about 7.30 on Tuesday night the Rhino had been spotted an it was running into a nearby veld.
Govender says a helicopter was due to join the search on Wednesday.
