An off-duty police constable was shot and killed outside his home in Bethelsdorp, Port Elizabeth on Monday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says the 27 year-old constable was attached to the Bethelsdorp SAPS.
He was shot by unknown suspects as he arrived home just after ten o'clock in the evening and died at the scene.
The Acting Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Major General Chris Ntantiso condemned what he described as 'the callous attack' of the police officer.
No arrests have been made as yet and the motive for the attack is not known.
