The South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Off-duty Constable, Francois Dolf (30), was killed in a collision between a car and a truck early Thursday evening in Uitenhage.
“It is believed that Constable Dolf was travelling in a green VW Golf in Caledon Street, and a white Nissan truck was travelling in Gibbon Street and the two vehicles collided at the intersection,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkhohli.
“Police are questioning witnesses in order to shed more light on what has transpired,” he said.
Nkohli said that the jaws- of life had to be used to free Constable Dolf from the wreckage.
The driver of the truck was not injured during the incident.
Seargeant Dolph was stationed at Kamesh Detective Unit but was doing duties at the Nelson Mandela Anti-Hijacking Task Team in Port Elizabeth.
