Three men are behind bars after they were caught red-handed by two off-duty Port Elizabeth policemen with stolen diesel worth nearly R40 000.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said Detectives, Captain Khulile Ntuli and Sergeant Mfundo Tekiso, were on their way home after a night shift when they spotted the men loading 25 litre containers from a truck onto a bakkie.
She said upon further investigation it was established that the truck driver was using his company's petrol card to fill up the containers.
Naid said the three were subsequently arrested and would appear in the New Brighton Magistrates court soon.
