EAST LONDON, December 24 (ANA) – The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has gone to the rescue of a stricken yacht in rough sea off East London in the Eastern Cape and towed the vessel into port.
NSRI East London duty crew dispatched the sea rescue craft Spirit of Lotto just after 10.30am on Saturday morning following a request for assistance from a Canadian yacht the Sara M, with a man and a woman on board, requesting assistance to get into port, NSRI East London station commander Geoff McGregor said.
Their last port of call was Port Louis in Mauritius. “On arrival on the scene a towline was rigged and in rough seas with a five metre swell and a 55-knot gale force wind we towed the 20-metre yacht into port without incident and they required no further assistance,” he said.
