NSRI volunteers in St Francis Bay were called in to action twice on Monday, first to assist a stricken chokka vessel which was damaged in a collission with another chokka boat.
And, then later in the day to take volunteers from the Whale Disentanglement Network out to assist to free a 10 meter juvenile Humpback whale which became entangled in rope and buoys about 18 nautical miles offshore.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says once freed of the rope, the whale swam off, appearing to be healthy and diving confidently.
Lambinon says they're confident that this operation has been successful and that the whale has survived.
