NPA seizes assets of EC fraud suspect

The National Prosecuting Authority in Port Elizabeth has served a preservation order on the chief financial officer of Ho Hup Construction, Elmero Pienaar.

Ho Hup Construction is owned by controversial businessman, Theuns Crouse, who is best known for his dalliance with socialite Khanyi Mbau.

NPA spokesperson, Tsepo Ndwalaza, says Pienaar was not at his Despatch home when they went there early on Friday morning to attach his property, household goods and a 4x4.

The order was served on Pienaar's wife.

Meanwhile, Ndwalaza says a similar order could not be served on Crouse, who, along with Pienaar, have been charge with defrauding the SA Revenue Service of millions of rands.

"We could not deal with the house matter, because our curator came back and informed us that he has pleaded that he has been sequestrated but we do not have all the info and cannot comment" he said
