The National Prosecuting Authority says it respects the court ruling to scrap the murder and attempted murder convictions of hip hop singer Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala and instead convict them of culpable homicide.
NPA spokesperson, Phindi Louw, says the director of public prosecutions will study the judgement and see if there are any grounds to appeal.
The pair were initially jailed for 25 years for killing four children and severely injuring two others while drag racing in Soweto in 2010 while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
They have now been sentenced to an effective eight years in jail.
