Eastern Cape police have moved to quash rumours of child abductions in the East London area.
Provincial police spokesperson, brigadier Marinda Mills, says no confirmation of any such incidents were received and no cases have been opened with the police.
However, she says there was an incident on Thursday morning at a school in Braelyn where a group of young children reported a suspicious vehicle possibly following them.
Mills says the police reacted speedily but the vehicle and its occupants could not be traced.
She says the police welcomes the concerns of parents with regard to their children's safety and alertness they displayed. There is however no confirmed information about individuals or groups targeting young children
Meanwhile, Algoa FM News has learnt that two men were seriously injured after being beaten up by a group of people in Buffalo Street on Friday.
It's understood that the men are at Fleet Street police station and will be taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.
Daily Dispatch editor, Bongani Siqoko, wrote in a tweet that a mob had smashed a Toyota Tazz and accosted the two men they suspected of trying to kidnap a child.
